According to The Guardian, Arsenal Football Club has offered Starmer an executive box at the Emirates Stadium, with an annual fee of £8,750.
Starmer previously insisted that his acceptance of hospitality was related to security requirements that would prevent him from entering the stands. He said, “If I don’t accept hospitality, I can’t go to the games. You might say, ‘Well, tough luck.’ That’s why gifts must be registered. But you know, it’s a bit much to say I can never watch Arsenal play again because I can’t accept hospitality.”
“I’ve had my season ticket for Arsenal for a long time, in the stands…. But now that I am Prime Minister, security advice is that I cannot enter the stands. Or if I did, you would have to deploy a lot of security, which would cost taxpayers a significant amount of money.”
