Recently, Western Sydney Wanderers’ head coach Vitezslav Lavicka made bold statements during an official A-League interview, declaring that he would make the team the strongest in Australia.
About Coming Home
Opportunities to come home and represent the place where I grew up, belong, and have lived my entire life are not common. Personally, this feels like returning to a spiritual home. As a coach, spectator, or fan, I have worked in the league for a long time and witnessed the ups and downs of the Wanderers. Honestly, over the past seven seasons, this team has experienced its highlights and lows, even reaching the finals two years ago, but their championship puzzle always seemed to be missing something. We have the best youth training system in Australia, yet we haven’t been able to nurture enough top talents.
About Team Goals
I believe that Western Sydney Wanderers should be the best in Australia because no other team has the foundation to become the best domestically. Look at our fan base, the passion of the fans, and our top-notch facilities; you have the resources to bring all of this together.
About Personal Goals
I don’t care if my tenure is three months, three years, or thirty years. I will only try to focus on the future vision of the team rather than short-term goals or one victory. I don’t think this team is weaker than it was last year. I want to help lay the foundation for the team’s future success.
About Mata
When Mata joined our team, what I considered first was not his football heritage but the quality of the person joining our team. Off the field, he is intelligent, articulate, and passionate about the game. His enthusiasm for the game is infectious. If he can pass on this passion and influence to our young players, it will be very important for us.
