Slot took over from Klopp this summer and became the new helmsman of Liverpool. Unexpectedly, he hit the ground running. The Dutch coach revealed that he hardly changed any of the rules left by the Klopp era, and even if there were changes, they were not related to tactics.
Since taking charge of Liverpool, Slot has won 8 out of the first 9 games, including a recent victory against Bologna in the Champions League. The Reds sit firmly at the top of the Premier League after 6 rounds, but Slot modestly said that all of this is thanks to the strong team culture and a group of talented players left by Klopp.
When asked by Sky Sports if he had implemented any new rules, Slot laughed and said, “We might have made some minor adjustments, but I can’t even remember what they were.” He continued, “There’s already a good punctuality culture here, so I don’t see the need to talk about fines for being late. Being on time is a basic requirement.”
He added, “However, we did make a small change — I’m not sure if it counts as a new rule — previously, the players would usually check into a hotel a few days before a match, but we believe the best way to rest is to sleep well in your own bed. So, we adjusted that. Now, the players can stay at home before home games instead of staying in a hotel. It’s not an official rule, but it is a nice change.”
Now, Slot will lead Liverpool against Crystal Palace, aiming to maintain their position at the top of the Premier League. Following that, they face a series of tough matches against teams including Chelsea, Arsenal, Brighton, and Aston Villa.
