Recently, Barcelona announced that Flick had officially taken over from Xavi as head coach. Former renowned manager Schuster shared his thoughts on his fellow German during a golf event.
Schuster commented: “Generally, we Germans have always liked Spanish clubs, at least initially. Flick is a coach who knows what it takes to lead a great team, he had an incredible season at Bayern, although his squad back then might have been stronger than Barcelona’s.”
However, Schuster also expressed his belief that changing the head coach wouldn’t address the club’s underlying issues: “In my opinion, Barcelona’s problems don’t lie with the coach. No matter how often you change, it won’t solve the real issue. It’s a problem with the entire team; you need to have the ability to genuinely compete with top players.”
