According to the Beijing Youth Daily, the Chinese men’s national football team’s coaching staff has already begun preparations for the two upcoming 18-strong matches in October. Among these preparations, fitness coach Stilinovic is set to travel to Australia for an away game inspection, and Zheng Zhi will not leave the coaching staff as previously rumored.
The report states that although the Chinese Football Association (CFA) has yet to publicly announce whether coach Ivankovic’s team will continue to lead the national team, the coaching staff has already embarked on the next phase of work.
On the morning of September 17, Marco Stilinovic, a Croatian fitness coach from the national team, posted on social media indicating that he was about to travel to Adelaide, Australia, to inspect the venue for the national team’s away game against Australia on October 10.
There have also been recent rumors suggesting a conflict between Ivankovic and the Chinese coaching staff, even claiming that if Ivankovic remains in his position, then Zheng Zhi, as a member of the Chinese coaching staff, would leave the team. However, this is not the case.
According to the Beijing Youth Daily, Zheng Zhi was spotted at the Shanghai Shenhua home game against Pohang Steelers in the AFC Champions League on the evening of the 17th, continuing his role in scouting players for the national team. This indicates that Zheng Zhi is still a member of the national team’s coaching staff.
Despite the current two-game losing streak, Ivankovic still needs the assistance of Chinese coaches such as Zheng Zhi and Chen Tao. Only by working together can the team achieve its maximum fighting strength.
