The 2024 Snooker English Open quarterfinal saw Higgins narrowly defeated by Mark Allen with a score of 3-4. However, during the match, he achieved his 1,000th century break in his career, becoming the second player in snooker history to unlock this achievement.

In the fifth frame of the match, Higgins cleared the table to win, scoring 105 points in a single visit, thereby securing his 1,000th century break in his professional career.

Ronnie O’Sullivan was the first player to achieve this milestone, currently having 1,272 century breaks.

Out of Higgins’ 1,000 century breaks, 13 were maximum breaks of 147.
