According to The Sun, during the League Cup match between Leicester City and Walsall, a Leicester City fan attempted to invade the pitch to attack Cooper but was stopped by the home team’s players.
This game ended in a 0:0 draw within regular time, and the winner had to be decided through penalties. Eventually, Leicester City narrowly eliminated this League Two team via penalties and advanced to the next round. Sixteen minutes before the end of regular time, an incident occurred on the pitch. An uninvited guest, a fan, attempted to rush from the away supporters’ section onto the field to attack Cooper, only to be intercepted by Walsall player David, and was subsequently escorted off the pitch by security personnel.
After the game, Leicester City manager Cooper stated, “He did not see what happened, but he clearly heard the fans’ dissatisfied chants towards him, which he deserved.” During the match, Leicester City fans chanted, “Cooper, Cooper sort it out.”
To date, under Cooper’s leadership, Leicester City has only managed to secure two losses and three draws. If including the draw within regular time of this match, Cooper’s record with the team is even worse.
