Today, in the second round of the China Open women’s singles, Chinese player Wang Xinyu faced off against the 32nd seed, Kudermatova.
In the first set, Wang Xinyu broke serve first but was immediately broken back. However, Wang Xinyu did not yield and broke her opponent’s serve again, then held her own serve successfully, leading 5-3. She then broke her opponent’s serve once more, winning the first set 6-3 decisively.
In the second set, both players held their serves initially, and the match was intensely contested. However, in the ninth game, Wang Xinyu was broken and lost the second set 4-6.
In the deciding set, Wang Xinyu was broken in the third game, putting her on the brink. In the sixth game, Wang Xinyu finally got a break point and broke back, leveling the score at 3-3. After trading holds, Wang Xinyu gave her opponent three break points again. However, she showed remarkable mental strength, winning three points in a row to bring it to deuce and managed to hold her serve under pressure. But in the eleventh game, Wang Xinyu was broken when leading 40-0.
Ultimately, Wang Xinyu lost to Kudermatova with scores of 6-3, 4-6, 5-7, losing the match 1-2 and failing to advance to the next round.
