The Argentine club Boca Juniors has decided to impose a two-match suspension on Romero for his involvement in a fight. Below is the official statement released by the club.
Boca Juniors hereby informs all its members and supporters that, due to the well-known events that occurred at the end of the match at La Bombonera last Saturday, we have decided not to call up our player Sergio Romero for the next two matches (against Cordoba Belgrano Athletic Club and Argentinos Juniors).
We also inform everyone that the identities of the three fans who instigated the aforementioned incident have been confirmed and will be dealt with accordingly.
Our club should be one big family, composed of supporters, players, staff, and directors. Therefore, mutual respect should always be upheld, and we should unite for the good of the club, enjoying the joy of sports together with Boca Juniors, cheering and participating in peace and harmony.
