Turkey’s coach, Montella, discussed Hakan Calhanoglu, the Inter Milan player, who came on as a substitute in the 64th minute of the last match against Wales.
“We knew he couldn’t play for 90 minutes, which is why we didn’t start him. We will do our best to assess his condition,” said Montella. “When he came on, we immediately saw the difference he made, which was evident in the second half.”
Calhanoglu previously suffered a minor strain during Inter Milan’s match against Atalanta, and Montella expressed hope that he could return to the starting lineup in the game against Iceland.
