On October 2nd, in the second round of the Champions League, Dortmund thrashed Celtic 7-1 at home. Before the match, Dortmund fans displayed a banner due to their dissatisfaction with the Champions League reform, criticizing UEFA for only thinking about making money.

Dortmund fans criticized UEFA with a banner: “You don’t care about this sport at all; you just want to make money.”

Dortmund fans also promoted their social media below the banner, where articles detailed why fans opposed the Champions League reform.

This is not the first time that Dortmund fans have publicly disagreed with UEFA. As early as last season’s Champions League group stage, during the home game against Newcastle, Dortmund fans had unveiled several banners criticizing UEFA.

The number of teams in this season’s Champions League has been expanded to 36, and the format has been reformed. Each team will play 8 rounds in the first stage. The top eight teams will directly enter the Round of 16, while teams ranked 9th to 24th will compete for the remaining 8 spots in the Round of 16 through two-legged playoffs. With the increase in matches, the pressure on clubs has also grown.
