Ancelotti: Mbappé Travels With Team Because He Wants to Play but Will Only Start if There’s No Risk

On October 1st, Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti attended the pre-match press conference ahead of the Champions League game against Lille.

Concerning Modric replacing Kroos, Ancelotti said, “We can’t find someone who can completely replace Kroos. Luka performed well in the match against Atletico, but we believe no one can fully step into Kroos’ shoes.”

Talking about the young Turkish player Güler, Ancelotti said, “Compared to this time last year, he has received more playing opportunities. He is constantly improving. I don’t need to say much to him.”

Finally, speaking again about Mbappé’s injury, Ancelotti emphasized, “He just had some muscle overload. He travels with the team hoping to play because he feels good himself. We need to observe his training condition today, and if he is fully recovered and there’s no risk, he will start the game.”
