The Football Federation Australia (FFA) has officially announced that renowned local coach Tony Popovic will take over from Graham Arnold to become the new head coach of the Australian national team.
The 51-year-old Popovic is a former Australian football legend and well-known local coach. During his playing career, he played for Crystal Palace in the English Premier League and was a member of the national team at the 2006 World Cup. After retiring in 2008, Popovic began his coaching career. In the 2012-13 season, he coached Western Sydney Wanderers, leading the team to the A-League championship and the AFC Champions League trophy in 2014. Subsequently, he led Perth Glory and Melbourne Victory to win the A-League and FFA Cup titles, respectively.
