On October 3rd, Arsenal legend Thierry Henry praised Unai Emery as a tactical genius and suggested that if the Gunners had been more patient with him, he could have achieved success at Arsenal.
Following Aston Villa’s 1-0 victory over Bayern Munich, Henry spoke highly of Villa’s manager Emery: “There is no doubt that Emery is a tactical genius; he always ensures that his team’s tactics on the field can suppress the opponents.”
Henry expressed regret over the short tenure Emery had at Arsenal: “During his time coaching Sevilla and Villarreal, Emery won four Europa League titles. I am not disrespecting Arteta, who has been very successful at Arsenal, but what I want to say is that if Arsenal had given Emery more time back then, he would also have succeeded at the club.”
Emery coached Arsenal from July 1, 2018, to November 29, 2019, leading the team to 43 wins, 15 draws, and 20 losses, but he did not win any trophies during his time with the Gunners.
