B Fee: Referee's Claim of Showing Studs is Untrue, Maddison Himself Said it Wasn't a Red Card

In the sixth round of the Premier League, B Fee received a red card, while Kulusevski, Johnson, and Solanke each scored a goal, resulting in Manchester United losing 0-3 at home to Tottenham with only ten men on the field. After the game, Manchester United captain B Fee gave an interview to BBC.

B Fee: “I just wanted to come over and talk (do an interview), to be myself, because my teammates deserve this respect; they played with one less player in the game and performed excellently. Especially because I was sent off, which let them down. The team showed great resilience and fighting spirit; they tried their best. It wasn’t easy.”

“In my opinion, that was absolutely not a red card. I agree it was a foul, but definitely not a red card. Even James Maddison, when he got up, said it wasn’t a red card. The referee tried to tell me that he saw obvious contact with the studs, but there wasn’t. I did not touch the opponent with my studs or foot, but with my ankle. This was a clear foul. If he wanted to give me a yellow card because they were about to counterattack, I would agree. But more punishment, no. I don’t think it was deserved.”

“Yes, playing with one less player made us struggle a bit. We tried to force our way through, being too eager. When they pressed high, we made mistakes in handling the ball and were punished. From then on, the game didn’t go as we wanted. Then the red card made things worse. I have to thank my teammates for everything they did to try to get back into the game, but it wasn’t possible. They showed great effort and resilience, and I am satisfied with that.”
