On October 4, 2024, in Beijing, the quarterfinals of the 2024 WTA China Open women’s singles saw Andreyeva face off against Zheng Qinwen.

In the first set, despite trailing 0-4 at the start, Zheng Qinwen managed to readjust and win five consecutive games. However, due to more errors at critical moments towards the end of the set, she lost the opportunity to win the set on her serve and allowed Andreyeva to take three straight games, resulting in a 5-7 loss for the first set;

In the second set, Zheng Qinwen promptly regained her excellent serving form, achieving over 70% success rates on both her first and second serves, winning six games in a row to level the match with a strong bagel; the score was tied at 1-1, leading to the deciding set;

In the third and final set, Zheng Qinwen committed multiple double faults at the beginning, allowing her opponent to hold and break her serve. She then quickly recovered, leveling the score at 4-4. In the crucial service game, Zheng Qinwen broke her opponent’s serve, taking a 5-4 lead into her own serve-to-win game. Zheng Qinwen held serve tenaciously, winning the set 6-4 and the match.

Zheng Qinwen came from behind to defeat Andreyeva 2-1, advancing to the semi-finals of the China Open and setting a new personal best in WTA 1000 tournaments; in the semi-finals, Zheng Qinwen will face Muchova, who defeated Sabalenka in the quarterfinals.
