Last month, F1 Aston Martin officially announced that they have signed legendary design guru Newey.
In a recent interview with the press, “Captain” Alonso, the double champion of the Aston Martin team, spoke about Newey. While he is excited about Newey’s arrival, he does not believe that this legendary master can immediately make a difference in next year’s car.
Alonso said, “I don’t think so. By March 2025, the team’s focus will be on the 2026 season and the rule changes.”
Additionally, the Spaniard added, “Joining in March, getting to know everyone, working at the factory in April and May. I really don’t think it’s worth investing too much time in the 2025 season unless you’re going for the world championship. I hope for surprises, but I doubt it. So the 2026 car might be the first one influenced by him.”
