Shang Juncheng Falls to Alcaraz, Exits Shanghai Masters in Second Round

On October 5, in the second round of the men’s singles at the Shanghai Masters, Chinese player Shang Juncheng faced off against Spanish star Carlos Alcaraz.

In the first set, Shang Juncheng served first but was broken by Alcaraz, who won four consecutive points. Alcaraz also won four straight points to hold his first service game, taking a 2-0 lead. The next four games were held by each player, with Alcaraz leading 4-2. In the seventh game, Alcaraz broke again. Serving for the set, Alcaraz successfully held serve and won the first set 6-2.

In the second set, Shang Juncheng won his first service game, but Alcaraz won the next two games to take the lead. In the fourth game, Shang Juncheng had a break point but failed to capitalize, allowing Alcaraz to hold serve after a tough battle, leading 3-1. In the subsequent games, Alcaraz won another two games, leading 5-1 over Shang Juncheng. In the seventh game, Shang Juncheng managed to hold serve. However, Alcaraz showed no mercy and clinched the match on his second match point in his serve-to-win-the-match game.

Ultimately, Alcaraz defeated Shang Juncheng in straight sets, 6-2, 6-2, advancing to the next round.
