Former Rayo Vallecano Coach: Real Madrid Shouldn't Change Their Style for Mbappe, But Only Ancelotti Can Find the Answer

In an interview with Sport, former Rayo Vallecano and Las Palmas coach Paco Jémez pointed out that although Mbappe is indeed very strong, as the reigning European and La Liga champions, Real Madrid shouldn’t change their playing style for one player like Mbappe. This difficult problem may only be solvable by Carlo Ancelotti.

“Without a doubt, Mbappe is one of the best players in the world,” said Paco Jémez. “But as a coach, even if he is the best player in the world (note: there is no ‘one’ here), if he makes me change the entire team’s playing style, it would also be a problem for me. The team can find solutions, but I think Real Madrid did better last season.”

Since joining Real Madrid, Mbappe has played 1 UEFA Super Cup, 1 Champions League, and 5 La Liga matches, totaling 613 minutes, scoring 5 goals, making his individual performance satisfactory. However, Real Madrid drew 2 matches in the league, being held to draws by Mallorca and Las Palmas, and after 5 rounds, they are already 4 points behind the top-of-the-table Barcelona.

However, Jémez still has confidence in Ancelotti: “The problem is that if you bring in a player and have to make everyone else change their playing style to accommodate this one person, the team may encounter problems. But I believe that Ancelotti can find a solution. If he can’t, then no one else will do it.”

The 54-year-old Paco Jémez was somewhat well-known during his playing days, helping Deportivo de La Coruña win the Spanish Super Cup in 1995 and helping Zaragoza win the Copa del Rey in 2001. After becoming a coach, he led teams such as Granada, Las Palmas, and Rayo Vallecano, considered a veteran in La Liga coaching circles.
