Manchester United fans mocked their rivals after seeing the Etihad Stadium, home of Manchester City, experience leaking during Sunday’s match against Arsenal.
A video taken by fans inside the stadium showed water dripping from the roof. However, this did not dampen the spirit of Manchester City and Arsenal in their intense 2-2 draw, which was an early encounter in their battle for the league title.
Facing this situation, Manchester United fans, who have endured a leaking roof at Old Trafford for years, could not resist the opportunity to mock their noisy neighbors.
On social media, one fan said, “Even the best teams face such situations.”
Another fan commented, “There’s another leaking stadium in Manchester, but it’s not Old Trafford.”
A third fan added, “The Etihad is leaking, but it’s like a ghost town over there.”
Another fan remarked, “Even your water feature will never be as spectacular as the famous Old Trafford waterfall.”
The video appears to have been filmed in the north stand of the Etihad Stadium, an area currently undergoing expansion work. This expansion includes a significant increase in the size of the second tier, which explains the large gaps visible in the stadium’s roof in the video. Once completed, the capacity of the Etihad Stadium will increase from 53,400 to nearly 62,000.
