On June 15th, in the opening match of the European Championship, Germany kicked off with a resounding 5-1 victory over Scotland. With this win, Julian Nagelsmann, at the age of 36 years and 327 days, made history as the youngest manager ever to lead a team in a Euro opener.
In the tournament’s curtain-raiser, the host nation, the German national team, started strong and dominated the game, overpowering Scotland 5-1 in a display of attacking prowess. Germany controlled proceedings from start to finish, with their fluid attacks leaving the opposition struggling to respond.
Nagelsmann’s first Euro match as a coach was a tremendous success. Notably, on this day, he became the youngest coach in Euro history, surpassing the previous record held by Slovenia’s Srečko Katanec, who was 36 years and 333 days old when he took charge of his first match at the 2000 Euro.
