The Albania national team is on a quest in the Euro Cup, and their manager, Sylvinho, has adopted an assured and positive attitude ahead of their match against Italy.
Despite knowing that they have the daunting task of facing Spain and Croatia in the group stage, Sylvinho has issued a warning, stating that his team will leave nothing on the pitch as they challenge every opponent in Group B. “We are in a highly competitive group, fully aware of the importance of the tournament and the strength of our rivals, but we promise to give our all for every point and perform at our best in this competition,” he said.
The Albanian team can expect significant support from their fans throughout the three group matches, with even major events in the country being rescheduled to accommodate the Euro Cup.
“We know that we have a large Albanian community in Germany, Italy, Switzerland, and beyond. We represent the whole nation, and this is a great responsibility,” emphasized Sylvinho.
Saturday’s clash holds extra significance for Albania, akin to an “Italian derby,” given that ten of Sylvinho’s players ply their trade in Serie A, including captain Berat Djimsiti, who recently won the Europa League with Atalanta.
“It does make a difference; many of our players know Italian football inside out, and some will continue to play there,” said Djimsiti. “This background could be beneficial because you understand what kind of opposition you’re up against. But it’s still Italy, a team with a huge desire for tournament success.”
The highly anticipated match will kick off at 3 a.m. on June 16 at Signal Iduna Park in Dortmund, home ground of Borussia Dortmund.
