England striker Ivan Toney recently stated on BBC Radio 5 Live that he believes England will lift the European Championship trophy, promising to get a tattoo of the cup on his forehead if they do.
The runners-up from the last Euros are among the favorites for this edition. Toney, in particular, embodies the team’s confidence. During the live broadcast, when asked if he would commemorate the 2024 Euros with a tattoo, he said, “If we become champions, of course, I would. I think I’d get a trophy or something like that on my forehead. It’s a must-have tattoo for me to mark this journey, and I hope it turns out well. We know there’s a long road ahead, a huge task, but everyone in the team wants this, and we hope we can make it happen.”
Addressing his chances of playing, Toney remarked, “That’s tough to say, with so many great strikers in the squad. I believe the coach has seen something in me that can make this team even better. Whenever I get the chance, I have to repay his trust and give my all to help the team.”
Reflecting on his lengthy suspension, Toney shared, “I spoke to Southgate when it happened. I wish someone would feel sorry for me. But I don’t want too much sympathy – it was my mistake, and I need to own it and come out stronger on the other side.”
