On June 13, Athletic Bilbao announced that they have extended the contract of veteran player Ander Herrera until 2025.
The 34-year-old Herrera first played for Bilbao from July 2011 to June 2014. He then went on to play for Manchester United and Paris Saint-Germain, winning one Europa League title, two Ligue 1 championships, one FA Cup, two French Cups, one English League Cup, and one French League Cup.
Herrera returned to Bilbao on loan in the summer transfer window of 2022 and officially joined the club in the winter transfer window of 2023. In the 23/24 season, he made 27 appearances for Bilbao, providing three assists.
