Italian football legend Fabio Capello believes that Inter Milan will find it difficult to defend their Serie A title next season, with AC Milan and Juventus emerging as the main contenders for the trophy.
Among the leading Italian clubs, AC Milan, Juventus, and Napoli have all undergone managerial changes this summer. Juventus opted for former Bologna coach Massimiliano Allegri’s successor, Maurizio Sarri, after parting ways with him. Former Lille boss Christophe Galtier took charge at AC Milan, while Serie A veteran Antonio Conte joined Napoli. Even Lazio appointed Thiago Motta following Simone Inzaghi’s departure.
Inter had won the league title last season with a commanding lead, and despite remaining favorites, Capello, in an appearance on Radio KissKiss, argued that retaining the championship would be a significant challenge. He analyzed the upcoming season’s landscape and assessed the qualities of the new managers.
Capello stated, “Conte is a capable coach who knows how to guide his teams and has international experience. He’s in his prime as a manager. He has proven himself as a winner, and with Napoli not having European commitments, they can focus solely on the league, which works in his favor. Having a good squad at his disposal is crucial for success. We期待 an exciting competition. If Osimhen and Kvaratskhelia stay, that will be an advantage. Next season promises to be fantastic; I don’t see Inter retaining the title, while Juventus will be a protagonist alongside AC Milan.”
