On the evening of November 1, Dortmund head coach Şahin attended the pre-match press conference ahead of the game against Leipzig.
Şahin began by highly praising the opposition, Leipzig: “Leipzig is an excellent team with many talented players. Tomorrow’s match will be a significant challenge for us. They are almost unbeaten and have a very solid defense. This game is bound to be tough, but we will do our best to face it.”
Facing the current difficulties, Şahin stated: “We must take it step by step to overcome these challenges. The team’s performance has indeed disappointed the fans, but I don’t need to motivate them because the fans will definitely be at the stadium at 18:30 tomorrow, giving their all to support us.”
Regarding the development of young players, Şahin said: “One of my responsibilities is to develop young players. We work closely with them, although this does not always mean they will get more playing time. The idea of nurturing young talent is deeply rooted in the club’s culture.”
Concerning the current injury crisis, Şahin believes: “With ten players out due to injuries, this is truly an unprecedented disaster. However, we will overcome this challenge, and things will surely improve. We remain committed to our beliefs and will not make excuses.”
Şahin called for support from the fans: “Tomorrow’s match, more than ever, we need the support of the fans. I believe they will understand our situation. We are eager to extend our home winning streak.”
Finally, Şahin reaffirmed the team’s determination: “The current situation is very difficult, with consecutive losses, elimination from the cup, and a long list of injured players. Everything is very bad. However, we will still field our strongest lineup for the match.”
