According to the official report from Changchun Yatai Football Club, with China’s thrilling qualification for the Asian Zone’s 18-team World Cup Qualifiers, the second three-week break in the Chinese Super League (CSL) is coming to an end. On June 15, the 202 Chinese Super League resumes, with Changchun Yatai set to face Zhejiang FC away at West Lake. On the evening of June 13, head coach Xie Hui assembled his squad and arrived in Hangzhou, marking the start of a challenging 15-day period with four matches.
Since the beginning of the second break, Coach Xie Hui has been addressing issues such as injuries, positions, tactics, and mindset that arose during the first 14 rounds. After three weeks of adjustments, the team aims to present a refreshed image in their crucial mid-season finale against Zhejiang FC.
During the preparation period, Changchun Yatai played a friendly match against Shanghai Shenhua and then had an internal friendly against their own U21 team. These matches were meant to maintain the team’s rhythm of a game per week and to discover more young talents like He Yiran.
Facing a grueling schedule of four games in 15 days – away against Zhejiang on June 15, away against Shaanxi Lianhe (fourth round of the FA Cup) on June 21, and back-to-back home matches against Shandong Taishan and Qingdao Haibao on June 26 and 30 – Changchun Yatai has specifically prepared in terms of physical fitness and squad rotation to navigate this challenging period with the current squad’s condition.
