In the previous U17 Asian Cup qualifiers, Iran U17 lost to North Korea U17 with a score of 1-4, ultimately finishing second in Group A. However, Iran does not accept the result of this match. The Iranian Football Federation believes that several players on the North Korea U17 team falsified their ages to participate and has submitted an official document to the AFC regarding this matter.

In the document, the Iranian FA listed the names of these six players and stated that their physical characteristics clearly exceed those of a 17-year-old, severely undermining the fairness of the competition.

Ultimately, North Korea U17 secured four consecutive wins in the group stage, accumulating 12 points to top Group A and advance.
