Berlin police have confirmed that a fan zone was closed due to the discovery of a suspicious object.
The Berlin police verified that a suspicious item led to the closure of a fan zone. Earlier, they issued a statement: “A suspicious object has been found at the entrance of the Scheidemannstrasse #Fanzone. The area is currently not accessible to fans. We are examining the object.”
The Berlin police have since confirmed that the suspicious object did not pose a threat and preparations are underway to reopen the fan park in the German capital. A statement read: “Our colleagues have now inspected the object. It was a backpack, which did not present a danger. The restrictions will be lifted soon.”
