It has been reported that UEFA has announced there will be an opening ceremony prior to the opening match between Germany and Scotland, which will feature a fireworks show. Initially, local authorities in Munich had concerns about the use of fireworks in the ceremony; however, after UEFA implemented enhanced safety measures and strict supervision, the display was given the green light.

Notably, Sky Sports mentions that the ceremony will particularly honor Beckenbauer, who passed away in January, with his widow Heidi carrying the European Cup trophy to the Allianz Arena in Munich. Accompanying her will be former Germany captains and Euro champions Jurgen Klinsmann (1996) and Karl-Heinz Rummenigge (1980).
