Foreign Media: Stuttgart to Deploy Over 2,500 Police to Safeguard Against Potential Hungarian Fan Disturbances

Foreign Media: Stuttgart to Deploy Over 2,500 Police to Safeguard Against Potential Hungarian Fan DisturbancesAccording to Hungarian outlet nemzetisport, in anticipation of potential incidents involving Hungarian fans, Stuttgart will deploy more than 2,500 police officers to maintain order during the second round of Group A matches in the European Championship.

As per information provided by the Stuttgart city government on Tuesday, given the “violent” tendencies of some Hungarian supporters, the Stuttgart police and UEFA have categorized this decisive match for Hungary as a high-risk event.

Thomas Strobl, Interior Minister of Baden-Württemberg, stated, “Special preparations are necessary.” He expects 15,000 to 20,000 Hungarian fans to visit Stuttgart.

Authorities will escort fan groups separately to the stadium, with phases starting from the city center. Hungarian fans will gather at the Central Castle Gardens, while German fans will assemble at the City Park, two kilometers away. Law enforcement has announced that if disturbances or conflicts do occur, the police will intervene “with strong action, promptly and purposefully, to calm the situation.”

Following Hungary’s 1:3 loss to Switzerland in the first round, their chances of advancing have significantly dimmed. A defeat against the host nation Germany would likely confirm Hungary as the first team to be eliminated.
