FIFA Referee Department Chief: Chinese referees have made significant progress; they are serious and professional

Recently, Massimo Busacca, the head of FIFA’s Referees Department, visited China to provide training for Chinese Super League referees and referee supervisors. During his stay, he granted an interview to Xinhua News Agency.

Busacca explained that the purpose of his visit was to assist Chinese referees in better understanding football within FIFA’s framework. “We regularly organize training and seminars worldwide to enhance referees’ understanding of the game, helping them to be in the right place at the right time and make correct decisions.”

Through this training session, Busacca believes that the standard of refereeing in China has significantly improved. He also mentioned that “the FIFA Referees Department will continue to cooperate with the Chinese Football Association for referee development.”

“The referees who attended the training were very serious and professional. They are on the right track. If they persist in their efforts, I believe we will see more Chinese referees officiating in major international competitions in the future,” he said.
