Former England football legend Wayne Rooney and Gary Neville recently discussed on a show the potential distractions that England players might face, such as participating in livestreams and playing card games during downtime.
Rooney commented, “I’ve seen some recent streams with Pickford and Ramsdale. Sometimes you can say the wrong thing, you have to be so careful. A few weeks ago, I was on a stream with a few players, and there’s always the possibility of saying something at the wrong time, which could affect your mentality and create negative publicity.”
In the subsequent conversation, Rooney also highlighted the impact of card games on team dynamics. Neville agreed, stating, “Card games have been popular in school environments for a long time. A month at the Euros can get boring, and they can’t leave the hotel. In school, card games could have a massive effect on pupils. I’m sure Southgate will address these sorts of activities and control them, otherwise, they can genuinely impact the team.”
