According to multiple Scottish media outlets, a Scottish football fan named Colin King passed away in his sleep two days after watching the opening match between Scotland and Germany.
The 57-year-old fan, from South Lanarkshire, Scotland, was found motionless in his bed early on Monday. His death was later announced by his nephew through social media.
In a post on the platform, he wrote, “After the mad scramble for tickets and flights following Scotland’s Euro dreams coming true, it all seems irrelevant now. With a heavy heart, I announce that Colin King, a devoted Scotland supporter, has passed away. He was there in person for the Friday opener. He met up with us in Düsseldorf for a weekend of celebrations. He only went to bed in the small hours of the morning, but tragically, he didn’t wake up again on Monday. He loved following the Scottish national team on their travels, and sadly, this was to be our last long journey together. This trip will be remembered for many reasons by all involved.”
