On June 17th, the 2024 European Championship continued, with a total of 22 goals scored in the seven matches that have concluded, setting a new record in the history of the Euro Cup.
After seven group stage matches, 14 teams have combined for an impressive 22 goals, averaging more than three goals per game. This marks the highest goal-scoring record at this stage in the tournament’s history. Surprisingly, Croatia and Serbia, two teams with considerable strength, have both failed to find the back of the net in the last three matchdays.
It’s noteworthy that during the third matchday, the number of goals decreased across the three fixtures: Poland lost 1-2 to the Netherlands, Slovenia drew 1-1 with Denmark, and Serbia fell 0-1 to England. No wonder some fans are commenting, “At this rate, 0-0 draws seem imminent.”
