According to Sport1, a German sports news outlet, two Portuguese journalists were involved in a fight outside the Westin Hotel where the Portuguese national team was staying, prior to their match against the Czech Republic.
The Leipzig police reported that several individuals, including the two journalists aged 47 and 56, clashed behind the fence of the Westin Hotel.
The 47-year-old journalist, like others, was waiting for the Portuguese national team’s bus, which was headed to the Leipzig stadium for the final training session. Live footage showed fans chanting Ronaldo’s name, after which the journalist abruptly stopped reporting and kicked a nearby fan, leading to an altercation. The broadcast quickly cut back to the studio.
As per broadcaster SIC, the journalist sustained a dislocated shoulder and had to receive medical treatment at a hospital, though no surgery was required. Following the incident, the Portuguese Football Federation advised journalists to keep a distance from fans.
