Serginho in National Team’s Sights; Oscar’s Naturalization Enters Practical Stage

According to a report by Beijing Youth Daily, among the national team’s potential naturalization targets, Oscar of Cangzhou Lions has entered the practical stage, while Zhou Dingyang from Chengdu Rongcheng is virtually out of reach. The new focus is now on Taiyuan’s Serginho, an midfielder with playmaking abilities that the team urgently needs.

Oscar has been a hot topic for naturalization, and he himself expressed willingness to undergo the process. The only remaining issue is determining who will finance it. The Beijing Youth Daily reports that Oscar’s naturalization has progressed from initial discussions into practical operations, and if all goes well, he could join the team for the 18th round of matches.

Regarding Zhou Dingyang of Chengdu Rongcheng, due to his complex identity, after assessment by the Chinese Football Association, it has been determined that the likelihood of his naturalization is negligible.

While attention was focused on Oscar and Zhou Dingyang, Serginho, playing for Changchun Yatai, has also caught the national team’s attention. Having arrived in the Chinese Super League in early 2020, Serginho will be eligible for naturalization by January next year. Moreover, he fits the role of a midfield organizer that the national team desperately requires.
