The Brazilian team is set to face its first opponent in the Copa América, Costa Rica, on June 25th. Ahead of the match, young forward Endrick attended a press conference, sharing his thoughts on his maiden Copa América journey.
At 17, Endrick is the youngest player in Brazil’s squad for this Copa América and it’s also his first continental tournament as he prepares to join Real Madrid. He expressed his hopes, saying, “I hope the fans will see an exciting match and beautiful goals from us. Right now, we’re not thinking about Colombia or any other team, our focus is solely on Costa Rica.” Showing respect for the first opponents, Endrick added, “Costa Rica is a dangerous team, and we must be very cautious.”
During Dourival’s tenure as Brazil’s head coach, Endrick scored three goals, leading to strong calls from the domestic fans for him to start as the team’s number 9 in this Copa América. In response, Endrick said, “I’m very grateful to Ferreira, he knows when it’s best to use me. Everything is under Coach Dourival’s control, I’m not worried about whether I start or not. I just train hard and do my job. Dourival is doing what’s best for the Brazilian team, not just for Vinícius, Rodrygo, or myself. I believe everything is happening at the right time, there’s no need to rush things.”
