According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Dutch winger Xavi Simons has formally notified Paris Saint-Germain that he wishes to depart the club during this summer’s transfer window. It is understood that Bayern Munich and RB Leipzig are the two clubs most likely to secure Simons’ services.
As previously reported by L’Équipe, Arsenal, Barcelona, Bayern Munich, Manchester United, and Manchester City have all contacted PSG to discuss the possibility of signing Simons. Sky Germany journalist Florian Plettenberg has also claimed that Bayern Munich is preparing a loan offer with an option to buy, with a final transfer fee in the region of €60-70 million.
Per Romano’s information, Simons’ move this summer will be on loan, though it’s unclear if it will include a purchase clause. Bayern Munich and RB Leipzig are indeed the frontrunners for his signature, while clubs like Arsenal and Barcelona have not given up on the Dutch attacker.
During his loan spell at RB Leipzig, Simons made a significant impact, featuring in 43 matches across all competitions, scoring 10 goals and providing 15 assists.
