Plymouth’s poor start in the Championship sees fans calling for Rooney to be sacked before Christmas

Rooney’s nightmare start as Plymouth manager continued, with his team conceding a goal within the first three minutes of the match.

The 38-year-old Rooney took over the reins at Plymouth this summer, but in their first game of the Championship season, they suffered a humiliating 0-4 defeat against Sheffield Wednesday. Last Saturday, they managed a 1-1 draw at home against Hull City, but today’s match against Queens Park Rangers (QPR) began in the worst possible way.

Plymouth lost focus during a corner kick defense, allowing Michael Frei to head in an early goal for QPR. This opening sparked angry reactions from fans, with some already calling for the dismissal of the Manchester United legend.

One fan said, “Rooney will be fired before Christmas.”

However, after 25 minutes, Morgan Whittaker equalized with a brilliant long-range shot for Plymouth. But just 76 seconds later, Adam Forshaw received a second yellow card for an incredible tackle, leaving Rooney’s team to play with ten men for more than an hour of the game.

Towards the end of the game, substitute Issaka was also sent off in stoppage time, reducing Plymouth to nine men.

Despite this, Rooney’s team held on stubbornly for a crucial point—despite only having one shot on target throughout the match, while QPR had 30 shots with 10 on target.
