The A-League today announced its format for the new season. With the addition of newcomers Auckland FC, the 2024-25 A-League will feature a total of 13 teams, and the regular season will be expanded to 29 rounds.
However, each team’s number of games in the regular season will be reduced from 27 to 26, including home and away matches against the other 12 teams as well as two combined rounds, with three weeks of byes included.
In terms of the format, the top six teams from the regular season will still advance to the playoffs. According to the schedule, the new season’s A-League opener is set for October 18th, while the playoffs and Grand Final are scheduled for May 9th and May 30th next year respectively.
The full schedule for the new A-League season will be officially released later this week. Notably, the upcoming season will mark the 20th season of the A-League, so the league officials are paying extra attention and planning numerous events. Are you looking forward to it?
