AS: Real Madrid will not rush Mbappé’s surgery, confident he’ll play in the UEFA Super Cup

On June 24, according to AS, Real Madrid believes that even if Kylian Mbappé undergoes surgery after the Euros, it will not affect his participation in the UEFA Super Cup.

In the opening match of the Euro group stage, France defeated Austria 1-0, with Mbappé fracturing his nose during the game. Consequently, he missed the following match against the Netherlands. However, Mbappé will not withdraw from the Euros and will continue playing with a mask in the subsequent fixtures.

Real Madrid hopes that Mbappé will have the surgery soon to avoid disrupting the team’s preseason preparations but understands if he waits until after the Euros. If France reaches the final, Mbappé’s surgery would be postponed until late July.

From a medical standpoint, such fractures typically require 2-3 weeks for recovery and 4-5 weeks for full healing. However, Mbappé’s condition seems better than initially thought; his injury appears to be a severe displacement rather than a severe fracture, with no more hematoma or inflammation. This suggests he might not need a month-long recovery period.

Real Madrid will not pressure Mbappé to undergo surgery immediately, trusting both the French team’s medical care and the player’s judgment. If France reaches the final on July 14, the surgery would take place two days later. Should France not reach the final, the surgery would be scheduled earlier. The club is confident that Mbappé will be ready for the UEFA Super Cup on August 14.
