According to reports from AS, Bayern Munich’s sporting director, Eberl, confirmed in an interview that the club has indeed put a halt to contract extension talks with Kimmich, planning to resume discussions when the player returns to the team.
Eberl stated: “Kimmich’s contract has one year left. We have decided to temporarily suspend contract negotiations and will revisit the matter when he returns from his vacation.”
It is understood that Bayern still hopes to renew Kimmich’s contract, but if no agreement is ultimately reached, they will list him for 50 million euros, attempting to sell this summer to cut their losses.
Barcelona has reportedly been interested in Kimmich all along, but the club is currently pursuing Olmo, making it difficult for them to meet Bayern’s asking price.
