According to British media outlet The Mirror, Arsenal has fallen short of the Premier League title to Manchester City for two consecutive years. The club is eager to secure its first championship in 20 years, and head coach Mikel Arteta has been given the green light to spend significant funds on the players the team needs.
However, Arteta remains cautious in his interviews, stating, “We do need to bring in new players. In the Premier League, there are different standards for perfection. However, what we must do is associate the word ‘perfect’ with winning the Premier League title. We’re looking at every area and position where we can improve, and that’s what we’re striving to upgrade.”
Despite this, Arsenal’s recent transfer activities appear unhurried. The much-rumored €50 million Bologna defender, Kalafiori, has yet to be officially announced. Between the lines, one can sense some of Arteta’s difficulties: “I don’t know if there will be more players joining the team, but there’s still plenty of time. I think it’s more for the board to consider. When you’re so close (to signing a player), of course, you want to complete the deal, as you’re already so close.”
Media reports indicate that negotiations over Kalafiori are ongoing, and Arteta has not provided a specific timeline for an official announcement.
Currently, Arsenal is in the United States for their pre-season matches, facing off against Bournemouth, Manchester United, and Liverpool.
