According to reports from Tuttosport on July 3, former Italian international Leonardo Bonucci might make a comeback to the national team, joining Roberto Mancini’s successor, Cesare Prandelli, in his coaching staff.
Media sources indicate that after Italy’s 1-1 draw with Croatia in the Euro 2020 group stage, Bonucci met with Prandelli and a few players, suggesting a feasible scenario for the defender’s return to the Azzurri.
Bonucci, who has played for clubs like Juventus and AC Milan, concluded his playing career at Union Berlin and Fenerbahçe, retiring in May of this year.
It is no secret that Bonucci wishes to remain in football as a coach after his retirement. As such, he is keen on being part of Prandelli’s coaching setup to gain experience for his future managerial endeavors.
