On July 23, Chelsea announced the squad for their pre-season tour of the United States.
Apart from players like Palmer and Cucurella, who were not included after recently playing in the European Championship final, Charloba was also omitted. According to Fabrizio Romano, Charloba was informed by the club that he would not be traveling to the U.S. for the pre-season, which suggests that his departure from the club this summer is becoming increasingly likely.
Charloba has recently been linked with clubs such as Crystal Palace, West Ham United, and Fulham. There have also been rumors suggesting interest from Manchester United. Over the past 18 months, Charloba has repeatedly turned down opportunities to leave Stamford Bridge. According to The Mail on Sunday, Nottingham Forest rejected a £25 million offer last summer, and Tottenham Hotspur’s bid was also turned down.
After suffering a hamstring injury, Charloba missed much of the previous season but later returned to Mauricio Pochettino’s starting lineup towards the end of the campaign. Notably, Charloba received praise for his role in Chelsea’s five-match winning streak in the Premier League, helping to cap off an otherwise turbulent season for the club.
Charloba’s contract with Chelsea runs until June 2028, and should he be forced out, the club may seek a reasonable fee for him.
