Dodgers Reverse Yankees’ Lead, Win MLB World Series

On the morning of October 31, Game 5 of the MLB World Series was played at Yankee Stadium. Before the game, the Dodgers led the series 3-1.

In the bottom of the first inning, Judge and Chisholm hit back-to-back home runs, giving the Yankees a 3-0 lead.

In the bottom of the second inning, Verdugo hit an RBI single with one out and a runner on third, increasing the Yankees’ lead to 4-0.

In the bottom of the third inning, Stanton hit a home run, extending the Yankees’ lead to 5-0.

In the top of the fifth inning, the Yankees made consecutive defensive errors, allowing the Dodgers to score five runs with hits by Betts, Freeman, and Teo Hernández, tying the game at 5-5.

In the bottom of the sixth inning, Stanton hit a sacrifice fly with one out and runners on first and third, scoring Soto and giving the Yankees a 6-5 lead.

In the top of the eighth inning, Enrique Hernández and Edman hit consecutive singles, followed by Will Smith drawing a walk, loading the bases for the Dodgers with no outs. Lux hit a sacrifice fly, scoring Enrique Hernández and tying the game at 6-6. Immediately after, Ohtani came to bat, and Yankees catcher Wells was called for a balk, automatically walking Ohtani and loading the bases again with one out. Betts then hit another sacrifice fly, giving the Dodgers a 7-6 lead.

In the bottom of the ninth inning, the Dodgers brought in their ace, Buehler, to close out the game. He easily retired the three batters he faced, securing the victory for the Dodgers, who won 7-6 in a dramatic comeback against the Yankees.

In the end, the Dodgers defeated the Yankees 4-1 in the series, winning their eighth World Series championship in franchise history. This was also Ohtani’s first playoff appearance and his first World Series title.
