On June 22, according to the Deutsche Presse-Agentur (DPA), during the Poland vs. Austria match at Berlin’s Olympic Stadium, a Polish football fan fell from the stands and sustained serious injuries. There are currently no indications that it was the result of foul play.
The match between Poland and Austria was part of the second round of group games in the European Championship. During the game, a spectator fell from the stands. A spokesperson for the Berlin fire department confirmed to DPA that the man fell approximately three meters from the stand and landed in a drainage ditch within the stadium.
Reports indicate that the man suffered multiple injuries and briefly lost consciousness after the fall. Stadium officials promptly transported him to a hospital. The exact cause of the man’s fall is not yet known, but the Berlin police have stated that there are no signs suggesting it was caused by external forces.
