Evens: The Team's Goal Was a Clean Sheet, We Nearly Won in the End

In the seventh round of the Premier League, with B Fernandes hitting the crossbar and Dalot making a last-gasp clearance, Manchester United eventually drew 0-0 away against Villa. After the game, Manchester United’s starting center-back Evens gave an interview to Sky Sports.

Evens said, “We got a point away from home against a strong team. The game wasn’t perfect, our passing didn’t reach the desired level, but it’s still good to get a point away from home against a strong team.”

“Our goal was to ensure we didn’t concede any goals, and we even nearly won the game in the final stages. They have many excellent players, so you can never let your guard down; you always need to stay alert. Overall, we performed well.”

“Ten Hag told me after the last game that I would be playing this one. Even during the Porto match, I didn’t expect to come on as a substitute. Substituting both center-backs is quite rare, and now I’m enjoying every game.”

“It’s still an honor to play for this club, and the pressure that comes with it is part of the package. You see the support from the fans at the end of the game, and they’ve been backing the players for years.”

“It’s really great for Ten Hag to see all this. He was a bit excited the night before, and you could tell he was disappointed with the loss in that game. You can see everyone giving their all for a decent result.”
