On October 28, the F1 Mexico Grand Prix got underway.
In the first lap, Williams driver Alex Albon collided with Yuki Tsunoda’s car in the pack, and both were forced to retire.
In the 10th lap, Lando Norris made a sudden move to overtake at Turn 3, Max Verstappen defended aggressively, and both went off the track! Charles Leclerc took advantage to move into second place!
Red Bull driver Max Verstappen was penalized 10 seconds for forcing another driver off the track.
In the 16th lap, Aston Martin driver Fernando Alonso’s car experienced an issue and he retired. Notably, this was the legendary Spanish driver’s 400th race.
Earlier, during the battle between Verstappen and Norris at Turn 8, Verstappen gained an advantage by leaving the track, resulting in an additional 10-second penalty from the FIA, totaling 20 seconds.
In the 32nd lap, Leclerc completed his first pit stop. In the 33rd lap, the leading Carlos Sainz also completed his first pit stop, with no changes in the top three positions.
In the 45th minute, Red Bull driver Sergio Perez completed his second pit stop, while Zhou Guanyu, who started on hard tires, made his first pit stop.
In the 63rd minute, Ferrari driver Leclerc made a mistake exiting a corner, ceding the second position to Norris.
Ultimately, Sainz achieved a Pole-to-Win, securing his second victory of the season! Ferrari has now won back-to-back races for two consecutive weeks!
Norris and Leclerc finished second and third, respectively, with Norris continuing to chase Verstappen in the championship standings!
